Electronic Files

1). E- mailed files should not be over 2 megabytes. Anything over this size only clogs up our E-mail system and we cannot recover these files. Files may be compressed to save size, or maybe sent as separate e-mails, or mailed to us on disk. We print based on a PC format.

2). Any files sent to us must have a description name (property must have the address and street name) Photos must have Last name, First name. We are receiving files all day long and when the name of the file is "backyard", "doorhanger", "notepad" or a number "mcv006" it is very hard to keep track of the file and sometimes deletes a file with the same name & sometimes gets lost as we are not able to do a search for it. Files without a specific name may delay the printing of your order.

3). Be sure to inform us the name of the file that you are sending us on the order form so we know where to place it in our computer

4). We also will accept 1.4 meg floppies, 100 or 250 Zip disks and CD's, DVD's mailed to us.

We only accept professional files which include Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel Draw, InDesign & Quark. No other program files will be accepted.

We stress quality, and must have quality graphics and layout designs to start with.

ALL BLACK TEXT MUST BE 100% Black - No Rich black is acceptable, you will be charged for us converting it to 100% black.

All full color printing is to be CMYK with all files embedded and all type converted to outlines or curves. Only process colors are to be used, NO SPOT COLORS. Color text under 9pt is not recommended, you may use any of the 4 process colors for text under 9pt.

Printing needing separations are to be done in spot colors only - no CMYK files. Files should not be generated in Photoshop, as this program will not separate spot colors. Programs for spot color include: Illustrator, Quark, Indesign, Pagemaker & Corel Draw. Programs should have type converted to outlines and saved as a EPS file. Programs not capable of saving as eps can be saved as PDF, however quality is sometimes lost with PDF files. Trap and hairline registration will have an additional charge added

Note pad image size is to be 3x8, 5x8, 3 3/4 x 5 we will add a 1/4 white border around the image. No full bleeds

If you do not understand the above process, or do not have the above programs, you may make a mockup of the layout and fax or mail it to us. Send us the files and we will recreate as close as possible to your layout design and E-mail you a proof for your approval. Specific fonts, furnish the name, if we do not have the font we will need you to send it to us.

We realize that a lot of people are want-a-be "Graphic Artists" and want to do it themselves. We offer very competitive typesetting and it is usually cheaper in the long run if we do the layout for you. There is no charge for doing the layout for the standard notepads ! Prices start at $25.00 for most small jobs and are based at $60.00 per hour. Sometimes when we receive a file that's not correct, it takes us longer to correct mistakes and make changes than if we had done it ourselves, if we have to rework your layout so that we can print it the charge for typesetting is based on $120.00 per hour, minimum charge is $50.00.
